Weekend in the Windy City
National Pizza Day
Pizza for National Pizza Day! At Michaels... a little sports bar in Chicago's Uptown that has the most amazing deep dish pizza! Crisp crust filled with sausage, onions & green olives.. of course loaded with mozzarella too! Great dinner with my hubby as we watched the Blackhawks & about 16 other sports venues on 32 TVs too. Watched the Cubs this fall win the series here too! Love the staff & food.. cheap too!
Little Wok
Such a great place for lunch! New Asian restaurant in Lakeview. Amazing menu of everything from soups, appetizers, entrees & sushi too! I was craving Pho and read that this place had the best Rare Beef Pho in Lakeview so we had to check it out. My hubby likes sweet dishes, not too spicy so he opted for the Orange Chicken. Lunch special portion was huge! We were both very pleased. My Pho was so appealing and with a little chili sauce turned into a bowl of yum! Definitely coming back here!
Romantic Valentines' Dinner
Sapori's is our favorite Italian restaurant in Lincoln Park! We have been here too many times to count! Many a Valentine's Day too...!
We started out Insalate Stella which is mixed greens and belgian endives with provo- lone cheese, pinenuts, apples and raspberries in a honey mustard-champagne vinaigrette... so good! Love the sweet & savory flavor combinations along with warm bread and olive oil. Ken had his all time fav..homemade gnocchi pasta with chicken breast, sun-dried tomatoes, parmesan cheese and pine nuts in a basil pesto sauce! I love pine nuts and pesto! This also my daughter's favorite too when she comes into town. I have such a difficult time making a menu choice... but it always includes seafood! I chose the Risotto Pescatore...
italian arborio rice sauteed with a generous portion of mussels, clams, calamari, and shrimp and scallops... oh so good, with extra garlic! A glass of bubbly always compliments my meal too. It was a good thing we walked the two miles there and back... so much food!
